Smoky Tempeh “Bacon” Strips

01Steam the tempeh for 10 minutes to improve flavor and set aside. 2. Whisk together the soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, paprika, and pepper. 3. Lay the tempeh in a shallow dish and pour the marinade on top. Let it sit for 10 – 20 minutes, flipping once in between. 4. In a skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. 5. Cook the strips for about 4 minutes per side, until browned and lightly crisp. 6. Pour any remaining marinade into the pan and cook for an additional minute to thicken. 7. Let the strips cool and enjoy.
